Ariana Grande is Honoring Little Ari In Wicked

With early screenings of Wicked happening, Ariana Grande fans couldn’t help but notice one major detail in the end credits. Fans noticed during the end credits that Ariana is credited with her full name, Ariana Grande-Butera. Which includes the last names of her mother, Joan Grande, and her father Edward Butera.

For most of her career, Ariana only used her mother’s last name, Joan Grande. So this came as a shock to fans when a photo of the end credits went viral on X, formerly known as Twitter. When asked about this on an Australian radio show, Hit 104.7 Canberra, Ariana said,

“Technically, it’s my little girl name, it’s technically little Ari name, but no, I just feel like this experience was such a homecoming for me. I feel like I came home to myself in a lot of ways through what I learned from Glinda, from Elphaba. This was my name when I went to see the show when I was 10 years old. It felt like a really lovely way of honoring that. It felt really full circle, it just felt like something I wanted to do.”

Wicked comes out on Nov. 22, and fans can buy tickets now!
