Astros Make History with 18–1 Blowout Over Dodgers

The Houston Astros turned heads over the holiday weekend with one of the most dominant performances in recent MLB history, crushing the Los Angeles Dodgers 18–1 in the finale of a three-game sweep at Dodger Stadium.

Not only did Houston secure the sweep, but the margin of victory also set a record for the most lopsided loss in the history of the stadium.

Second baseman Jose Altuve led the way with two home runs and five RBIs, showing flashes of the MVP-caliber form that’s defined his career. Houston exploded for 20 hits, including 11 for extra bases, putting pressure on the Dodgers’ pitching from the opening frame.

Christian Walker and Víctor Caratini also played key roles in the rout, with Walker driving in four runs and Caratini reaching base in four of his five plate appearances.

The game marked a low point for the Dodgers, whose pitching staff had no answers. Manager Dave Roberts called the loss “unacceptable,” but acknowledged that sometimes, “you just run into a team on fire.”

The Astros’ offense has been trending upward, and this series may signal a turning point for the season. Houston now sits two games above .500 and is within striking distance of the AL West lead.

This wasn’t just a win—it was a warning to the rest of the league: the Astros, once quiet, are making noise again.
