The Dolphins and Steelers just dropped a bombshell—flipping two of the NFL’s top defensive backs in a blockbuster trade.
Pittsburgh is sending All-Pro safety Minkah Fitzpatrick(seen below) to Miami in exchange for veteran cornerback Jalen Ramsey, tight end Jonnu Smith, and a late-round pick swap. The move reunites Fitzpatrick with the team that drafted him in 2018, while Ramsey joins a retooled Steelers defense poised for a postseason push.
For the Dolphins, the deal is about reloading in the secondary with a younger star who can anchor Vic Fangio’s defensive scheme. Fitzpatrick, known for his ball-hawking instincts, brings leadership and high-end versatility.
Pittsburgh adds experience and playmaking in Ramsey while also bolstering the offense with Smith, who rejoins coordinator Arthur Smith in a familiar system. With Aaron Rodgers under center and DK Metcalf out wide, the Steelers continue to build an all-in roster for 2025.
This trade shakes up two AFC contenders—and it may not be the last major move before training camps open.
