On February 19, 2026, the Foo Fighters officially announced their 12th studio album, titled “Your Favorite Toy,” and released its high-energy title track.
This announcement follows a cryptic teaser campaign on the band’s website, where fans could explore a virtual bedroom filled with posters that played 10-second clips of new music.
The Dawn of a New Era
Your Favorite Toy marks a major turning point for the band as it is their first album featuring Ilan Rubin on drums. Rubin, a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee known for his work with Nine Inch Nails and Angels & Airwaves, officially joined the Foo Fighters in 2025. He stepped into the role previously held by Josh Freese, who had toured with the band following the tragic passing of Taylor Hawkins in 2022.
In a press statement, Dave Grohl described the title track as the “fuse to the powder keg” for the new record. “We stumbled upon it after experimenting with different sounds and dynamics for over a year, and the day it took shape I knew that we had to follow its lead,” Grohl said. “It feels new.”
Production and Sound
The album was recorded at home and co-produced by the band alongside Oliver Roman. Early reviews and fan reactions suggest the record leans into a raw, garage-rock sound with “sinister” keyboard stabs and dance-forward rhythms provided by Rubin.
