On March 24, 2006, the first episode of “Hannah Montana,” aired on Disney channel. The iconic children’s sitcom starred Miley Cyrus as a young girl living between both worlds, one of normalcy and one of secret fame. Cyrus was only 13 years old when she began the series. Despite her young age, Cyrus’ voice shined through with original songs performed on the show and in concert. Now, 2 decades later, Cyrus reveals she has plans for the 20th anniversary of “Hannah Montana.”

Cyrus recently appeared in an interview with Sirius XM and stated, “I want to design something really, really special for it because it really was the beginning of all of this.” Fans around the world are hoping the tribute Cyrus alludes to is a tour. However, some are skeptical as Cyrus has not participated in a major tour since 2014. The artist has expressed how isolating, uncomfortable, and impractical touring can become. It was just 2 years ago that Cyrus wrote a message to fans on Twitter, explaining to them that she has all the love for those who support her, but prefers to lean into the creative side of music. She states, “These looks I’ve been turnin don’t travel well. The archival looks don’t fold. I just don’t want to sleep on a moving bus. It isn’t what’s best for me right NOW.”
Despite this, Cyrus has had live performances over the years. Cyrus’ Attention Tour was a festival tour that took place in 2021 to 2022 with performances in the United States and South America. The eleven shows occurred at local Lollapalooza’s and festivals in cities such as Chicago, Atlanta, and Austin.
It is keen to note that although Cyrus reflects on her life as Hannah Montana fondly now, there was a time period when Cyrus wanted to separate herself from the identity. Cyrus’ album “Bangerz,” was an era filled with promiscuity, a hair cut, and an ending to the innocent Hannah Montana persona. The singer received backlash from the media, fans, and even those close to her. A period in her life when she wanted nothing to do with the character that brought her into fame.

In the present day, Miley Cyrus appears more attuned with herself than ever before. Years of self-growth, EMDR treatment, and creating music; Cyrus reflects on all aspects of her life with love. She has worked through the shame associated with the different periods of her life and continues to reach new milestones. Hopefully, one of those milestones includes another world tour.
