On Saturday, October 18th, Sabrina Carpenter appeared on Saturday Night Live as both performer and host for the episode. Although she had previously appeared on the show as a musical guest and in the 50th-anniversary special, this marked her first time hosting.

In her opening monologue, Carpenter displayed her well known blend of humor and self-aware commentary. She addressed recent controversy surrounding her album’s artwork, joking about how the cover photo had been cropped and the full image actually displayed her and Saturday Night Live cast member Bowen Yang holding her hair.
The 26-year-old star performed two songs, “Nobody’s Son” and her hit single, “Manchild”, both from her latest album, Man’s best friend.

Throughout the night she appeared in several sketches, showing off her comedic chops. One notable sketch had her playing a 12-year-old male podcast host interviewing a faux public figure. In another, she starred in a “Girlboss Seminar” sketch, playing a motivational speaker character.
Carpenter’s infectious humor and stage presence reflected a performer who knows how to connect with an audience; proof that her acting experience played a major role in making her SNL appearance both confident and memorable.
