Sabrina Carpenter is taking her next big leap, straight down the rabbit hole. The pop sensation and breakout star of 2024 is set to star in and produce a brand-new Alice in Wonderland–inspired movie musical for Universal Pictures, marking her first major studio film as both performer and producer.
The project, announced this week, pairs Carpenter with some of Hollywood’s top creative minds. Lorene Scafaria, best known for writing and directing Hustlers and working on HBO’s Succession, is set to direct. On the production side, Carpenter will be joined by Marc Platt, the producer behind La La Land, Wicked, and Dear Evan Hansen. Together, they’re crafting a modern musical reimagining of Lewis Carroll’s fantasy world.
Details on the film are still tightly under wraps, but according to fans, its being described as a “musical adventure inspired by the spirit of Wonderland.”
