Yankees Eye Big Move as MLB Trade Deadline Approaches

As the 2025 MLB trade deadline nears, speculation is swirling around the New York Yankees, who are reportedly looking to make a major addition to their lineup. Sitting just a few games behind the AL East lead, the Yankees are believed to be targeting a power-hitting outfielder to bolster their offense for the playoff push. With several struggling teams open for business, the trade market is heating up fast.

One name frequently mentioned is Luis Robert Jr., whose blend of power and speed could give the Yankees the offensive jolt they’ve been missing. Though expensive in terms of prospect capital, Robert would fit well in Yankee Stadium’s right field and provide lineup protection for Aaron Judge. Chicago, in the midst of a rebuild, may be open to a deal if the return is right.

The Yankees aren’t alone in their pursuit of talent. The Los Angeles Dodgers are eyeing bullpen help, the Giants are chasing starting pitching, and the Twins have emerged as surprise buyers in the AL Central. This year’s deadline could see more activity than usual, especially with expanded playoff spots keeping more teams in contention deep into July.

On the selling side, the Oakland Athletics, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Colorado Rockies are expected to unload veterans on expiring contracts. Relievers, utility bats, and back-end starters will be in high demand, and GMs are already laying the groundwork for last-minute moves. The wild card standings will dictate much of the urgency.

With less than a month to go, the balance of power in both leagues could shift dramatically. The Yankees appear poised to be aggressive, and if they land a star, the race for the pennant might look very different by August 1.
