Coldplay’s ongoing ‘Music of the Spheres’ tour continues to break records and captivate audiences worldwide. The band recently performed a four-night stand at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium. It drew a staggering 227,000 fans. This number surpassed the earlier record held by AC/DC. This achievement confirms Coldplay’s status as one of the biggest bands in the world. It shows the enduring power of live music.
Marvel Stadium celebrated the achievement on Instagram, announcing:
“Coldplay have officially broken our all-time largest attendance record for a band at Marvel Stadium,” the venue announced on Instagram.
Before this, the stadium’s highest single-show attendance was set by Adele in 2017, drawing 77,327 fans, while Ed Sheeran held the record for a concert series by a single artist, drawing a total of 257,751 fans across four shows in March 2018. Coldplay’s new figure surpasses the previous record set by Australian rockers AC/DC, whose 2010 tour saw a total of 181,495 fans over three shows.
Coldplay’s tour, supporting their albums Music of the Spheres and Moon Music, launched in Melbourne on October 30 and concluded its fourth show there on November 3. With four upcoming shows in Sydney’s Accor Stadium, the tour’s record-breaking trend seems likely to continue, underscoring the impact of live music and Coldplay’s powerful connection with audiences in Australia and beyond.
