Sunday at the Edinburgh Intl. Film Festival, which was dubbed Edinbranagh, saw a morning screening of the four-hour epic âHamletâ followed by a wide-ranging onstage conversation with Kenneth Branagh. The event began with Branagh receiving the inaugural EIFF Outstanding Contribution to Cinema award.
âFestivals are more important to our industry than ever before,â Branagh stated, holding the award. The discussion touched upon his extensive career, including his experiences directing the âHarry Potterâ films and a memorable anecdote about Christopher Nolan having him speak Russian backwards.
The festival celebrated Branagh’s significant contributions to cinema, highlighting his versatility as both a director and actor, with a particular focus on his Shakespearean adaptations and his ventures into blockbuster filmmaking.
