Dirk Case Continued to August 27, 2027 After Judge Grants Joint Stipulation

September 30, 2026 — A judge has granted a joint stipulation to continue the trial in the Dirk case, moving the next trial date to August 27, 2027.

The stipulation was filed by the government and joined by defense counsel in a procedural filing described as roughly eight to 11 pages. The document outlined timelines and argued that more time was required under speedy‑trial calculations so the parties can complete necessary review and preparation.

As part of the adjustment, the retrial will address the remaining defendants, including Asa Houston, who was previously severed and has not yet faced trial on all counts. Counts on which Dirk was previously acquitted are expected to be severed out of any new proceedings.

Parties told the court they face voluminous discovery — repeatedly characterized in the filing as gigabytes of material — and anticipate additional pretrial motions that will require review. Counsel also cited scheduling conflicts with other trials as a material reason for the extension.

The judge has entered the continuance on the docket. Unless the parties reach a pretrial resolution, the matter will not proceed until the newly set August 27, 2027 date. Observers should expect more motions and docket activity in the months ahead as both sides work through discovery and preparation.
