Jalen Duren has agreed to a five-year, $200 million fully guaranteed deal to remain with the Detroit Pistons, according to Shams. The agreement ends a protracted contract standoff that kept the 22-year-old All-Star away from media day and the start of training camp.
League reports say Duren had been seeking a five-year max that could have reached roughly $287 million and initially declined Detroit’s $200 million offer before ultimately accepting terms ahead of Thursday night’s deadline.
The Pistons are locking up a cornerstone after Duren’s breakout 2025-26 campaign, when he averaged 19.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game while earning his first All-Star selection and All-NBA Third Team honors.
From an organizational perspective the fully guaranteed nature of the deal provides Detroit with certainty as it heads into the season and removes a major distraction around the team’s frontcourt. For Duren the contract secures his financial future and keeps him in a position to build on last season’s All-Star breakout.
What’s next: Duren is expected to rejoin the team as training camp resumes and the Pistons finalize rotations. The focus now shifts to on-court chemistry and whether Detroit can convert individual momentum into sustained team progress.
Duren is staying in Detroit.
