Jennifer Lawrence is set to star in The Flood, a new film attached to filmmaker Zach Cregger, the casting was announced on Sept. 29, 2026. Details on the film’s plot, additional casting and release schedule have not yet been disclosed.
Lawrence, an Academy Award–winning actor, will lead the project. Cregger, who gained mainstream attention with the 2022 genre hit Barbarian and first emerged as a member of the sketch troupe The Whitest Kids U’ Know, is the creative force behind The Flood. No production companies, financing terms or distribution partners have been announced.
The pairing immediately raises the project’s profile: Lawrence’s attachment should make The Flood an attractive prospect for major studios and streaming platforms, while Cregger’s growing reputation in the genre space gives the film both commercial and cultural momentum. For Lawrence, the role represents another high-profile lead that could define the next phase of her career.
Specifics on production timing, full casting and distribution plans are expected to follow in the coming weeks. Further public details have not yet been released; this story will be updated as new information becomes available.
