The pop star encourages others to ‘Reach for the Stars.’
Pop icon Katy Perry is set to embark on a groundbreaking journey beyond Earth as part of Blue Origin’s first all-female spaceflight. The mission, spearheaded by Jeff Bezos’ aerospace company, will see Perry join a diverse crew of accomplished women aiming to make history.
Perry, known for hits like Firework and Roar, expressed her excitement about the opportunity, emphasizing her hope to inspire others to dream big. “This is about showing young people—especially young girls—that the sky is not the limit,” she said.
The six-member crew includes journalist and pilot Lauren Sánchez, entrepreneur and former NASA scientist Aisha Bowe, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen, CBS anchor Gayle King, and producer Kerianne Flynn. Their mission aboard the New Shepard rocket will give them a few minutes of weightlessness and a breathtaking view of Earth.
This historic flight is part of Blue Origin’s continued efforts to make space travel more inclusive and accessible. Perry’s participation, alongside a group of trailblazing women, marks a significant moment in both pop culture and space exploration.
The mission is expected to launch in spring 2025.
